India is the largest country in the Indian subcontinent & shares borders with Pakistan to the west, China and Nepal to the north, Bhutan to the north-east, and Bangladesh and Myanmar to the east. In south we have Sri Lanka & to the south-west we have Maldives and Indonesia to the south-east of India in the Indian Ocean. India is the seventh largest country in the world by area, with over a 1.25 billion population, is second after China. It is an extremely diverse country, with huge differences in geography, climate and ethnicity across its expanse. India's culture and heritage are a rich combination of the past and the present. This country offers the visitor a view of fascinating religions and a variety of languages with more than 438 living languages, and monuments that have been present for thousands of years. History

Indian history begins with the Indus Valley Civilization, which spread in to the north-western part of the Indian subcontinent, from 3300 BC to 1300 BC. In the beginning of the second millennium BC this model age civilization collapsed & Vedic period followed. In the fifth century, few parts of India were united under leadership of Samarat Ashoka. He also converted to Buddhism, and Buddhism spread to few parts of Asia. In the eight century Islam came to India and after 300 years (11th Century) it fully recognized itself in India as a political force. British were the known colonisers , in the 17th century British were granted to trade in Bengal. In the beging of 19th century British has took over full control over India, following by Indian revolution in 1857, British has took over administration from East India company. Mahatma Gandhi introduced the ‘Quit India’ movement in 1942 & he was imprisoned, not for the first time, for subversive behaviour. He obtained independence 1947 from Britain, soon after in 1948 he was killed. After independence India divided into 2 parts Hindustan & Pakistan. In the early 1990s india has opened market policies, the economic revolution started by Rajiv Gandhi has changed the country with new consumer goods, technologies and ways of life. India became the 2nd largest of computer software in the world.

Religion

Approx. 80% Hindu, 13% Muslim, with Sikh, Christian, Jain, Parsi and Buddhist minorities.

Language in India

Hindi is the national language with used by about 40% of the population English is a wide spoken language Other then these there are18 other languages which include Bengali, Gujarati, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Urdu etc…

Weather

Mostly Indian weather is hot almost for 9-10 months of the year with significant variations from region to region. Between March to June, very hot weather, between Oct to December, coolest weather with fresh morning & evening, Moonsoon time will be between June to October. The best time to visit India is between to October to March.

Geography
